Happy Monday everyone!

Here's the latest review for some of our acts joining us on the stages of TGE this year, we hope you have been enjoying them so far???

Chase and Status are coming to TGE!

This production/DJ partnership, famous for their Dubstep/Grime/Electro mash-ups, having a few number 1 dance tracks under their belt and TOO many celebrity fans to list. Chase and Status are bringing their mind blowing beats to the stages of TGE.

Not one to be missed.

Japandroids

Japandroids (aka JPNDRDS) is a two piece band from Vancouver, BC. This 'band' started in 2006 as a creative outlet for the post-teenage angst of Brian King and David Prowse. Originally intended to be a trio, the boys decided to forgo the logistical nightmare of having a 'lead singer' and do it themselves. As a consequence, Japandroids are 1 guitar, 1 set of drums, and 2 vocalizers. They call it garage rock. They don't care what you call it, as long as it's not minimal. Japandroids are maximal - a two piece band trying to sound like a five piece band.

This boy/girl duo of label MoshiMoshi are bringing their folk-pop to the stages of TGE and boy-o-boy, man-o-man, guy-o-guy that'll be a good one!

2010 is going to be a big one for these lovelys...

Broken Social Scene remains unbreakable…

Broken Social Scene has been creating waves with their experimental indie/folk sound since it has started in 1999. This ever changing band which has Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning as its two core members can rack up to 19 people when playing live!
Broken Social Scene keeps collaborating and adding to the list of contributors some indie scene royalty like Andrew Whiteman, Jason Collett, Metric’s Emily Haines, James Shaw, Evan Cranley, John Crossingham, Lisa Lobsinger, Stars’ Amy Millan and Feist.

The Canadian super-group even have their own book and have dabbed in soundtracks and film scores. We cannot wait to listen to the new album to be released on the 4th of May.
With a handful of shows around the time of the album release, The Great Escape Festival 2010 is the perfect choice to catch them live.
They’ll be showing off their characteristic baroque pop sound and proving why they’re still avant-garde in the indie scene on the 15th of May in Brighton
Don't miss them- get your tickets from http://www.escapegreat.com/buyTickets/ !

...and how about Marina and the Diamonds?

From one female superstar-in-waiting to another, Marina Diamandis - or as we now know her Marina & the Diamonds – returns to the Great Escape in 2010 with her quirky vocal style, head-turning outfits, and fierce on-stage presence.  Featuring in the BBC’s Sound of 2010 list (second only to Ellie Goulding, also playing at TGE!) big things are expected from Marina this year so we can’t wait to see her in action back on the Brighton stage.

I had the chance to catch Marina’s last live performance at the Garage as part of the HMV Next big thing gigs.  In an intimate venue, it was the perfect place to hear just how good her voice is.  Not only did she perform tracks such as “I am not a robot”, “Hollywood” and “Mowgli’s Road” beautifully, she displayed a whole lot of on-stage charm and charisma too.  Clad in glittery black and red, she was stylish in an understated way and laughed and joked with the crowd throughout.  All the tracks off upcoming album “The Family Jewels” which sound joyously big and poppy on record, come across in a lighter, more soulful way live so as to captivate the appreciative gathering.  And by the way, yes – her voice is amazing.

Marina and the Diamonds are now off to play a string of dates around the UK, before heading down to Brighton for TGE 2010!

05/02/2010

Golly Gosh Ellie Goulding

Yes, Ellie Goulding will be blessing this year's TGE with her presence.
Regarded as "The Sound of 2010", since featuring on Jools Holland she has been the talk of the town.
Ellie is undergoing a 2010 tour and is gigging intensely, bringing her eclectic electro, guitaring genius and versatile vocals to the ears of all who can handle them.

Be there, we will!

Introducing to TGE... Chase & Status!

So now we’ve got some confirmed bands to get excited about, who wants to get to know some of them a little better??

Well first up, we at TGE are massively looking forward to seeing dance sensations Chase & Status take to the Brighton stage in 2010!  There’s no question they’ve had a fabulous year, touring the UK for the first time ever and still finding time to get together with an astounding array of other artists such as Rihanna, Does it Offend You Yeah?, Pendulum, Snoop Dogg and The Prodigy.

Saul Milton and Will Kennard are the guys behind the decks responsible for hits like “Against All Odds” and “End Credits”.  Forming in London in 2002, they got their first hit with remixed Capleton track “Duppy Man” in 2005, and then hit the big-time with their debut studio album “More Than Alot” which featured appearances from Kano and Takura.  Since then the guys have DJ’d and toured hard, building up a reputation for spectacular live performances.

So we think it’s awesome that the duo have found the time to pop down to Brighton, to play a set that will surely be one of the highlights of the festival and that’s guaranteed to get you guys jumping up and down as hard as you can!!  Not one to be missed…
